NEW Flood Alert issued by the Environment Agency

A new flood alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.

{flooding of property not expected}
This is an update from the Environment Agency.

Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.

Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

Be prepared.

This Flood Alert remains in force following heavy rain on Thursday. Levels are now rising gradually at all locations in the Rother valley. The internal flooding of property is not expected. Patchy rain is due this morning and heavier rainfall is due late afternoon, Sunday 6 November 2022 and so this Flood Alert will be maintained throughout the weekend.

Please avoid using low lying land and roads close to the rivers, particularly in the Crowhurst Bridge area, around Shrub Lane and along the river Rother, particularly around Robertsbridge. We are ready to use the flood defence scheme at Robertsbridge if required.

We are continuing to monitor the situation, and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the rivers.

This message will be updated by 8pm on Sunday 6 November 2022, or as the situation changes.
