The 14th century Parish Church of The Assumption of Blessed Mary and St. Nicholas, Etchingham is situated on the north side of the A265, near to the Railway Station.

Construction of the Church as we know it today started in the mid 14th century, with major restoration carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries,

The Church has many interesting features, including a fine set of misericordsmemorial brasses to Sir William de Etchingham (1333-89) and his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, and a memorial to artist Henry Corbould, his drawings of Queen Victoria were used to create the world’s first Postage Stamp, the Penny Black.

More details of the Church history can be found on the Church History page.

The Church is open for visitors daily 10am to 4pm.
