Flood alert issued;

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency, 7.30pm 20th October.

Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.
Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

This is a pre-emptive flood alert as river levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall forecast this evening. Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected from 9pm today, 20/10/2021 until 12pm tomorrow, 21/10/2021. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads close to the river, particularly in the Crowhurst Bridge area and around Shrub Lane, and also low lying land and roads along the River Rother, particularly around Robertsbridge. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. We expect river levels to remain high until tomorrow afternoon on 21/10/2021. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers and actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if required. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 21/10/2021, or as the situation changes.
