Financial Support from Government via Rother District Council

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE GOVERNMENT VIA ROTHER DISTRICT COUNCIL

Rother District Council has received funding from East Sussex County Council through the Department for Work and Pension’s third household support fund (HSF). The funding has been made available to support households in need with food and energy costs.  The scheme will run from October 2022 and will close on 31st March 2023 or when the fund has been exhausted, whichever is sooner.

The Government has stated that funding should be aimed at households that are in need but who have NOT been eligible for the Cost of Living Payments recently administered by the Government.

Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must live within the Rother District, be over the age of 18, have recourse to public funds, and be finding it difficult to pay for heating, lighting, water or food. They must also be in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction but NOT in receipt of one of the following benefits:

·  Pension Credit

·  Universal Credit

·  Child Tax Credit

·  Working Tax Credit

·  Income Support

·  Income Based Job-Seeker’s Allowance

·  Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Award Level

There will be a one-off award of £250.00 to help with energy and food bills for eligible households.

All payments will be made direct to an applicant’s bank account with only one application allowed for the lifetime of the scheme. Completion of a simple online application form is required to allow us to collect an applicant’s bank details and verify their entitlement.  The scheme will be advertised by way of the Councils normal communication channels as well direct communication to potentially eligible households when data is available to do so.

The application form can be found on the Councils Website at https://www.rother.gov.uk/benefits-grants-and-funding/financial-support-for-residents/household-support-fund-3/
