Flood Alert issued

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.

21st December 2020, 12.45.

Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.
Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.                   Be prepared.

River levels are rising as a result of heavy rainfall.  Flooding is expected from 2pm this afternoon, Monday 21 December. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the river, particularly in the Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham and Robertsbridge areas. Property flooding is not expected.

The rainfall is expected to clear this afternoon, but further heavy showers are possible this evening. We expect river levels to remain high until Tuesday afternoon, 22 December. We are closely monitoring the situation.  Our incident response staff are actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if required. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses in the area. This message will be updated by 9pm this evening, Monday 21 December, or as the situation changes.
