Flood Alert issued

The Environment Agency issued a Flood Alert at 1.15pm 15th March

Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.
Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

River levels are rising along the Rother catchment as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 4pm today, Thursday 5th March. We believe there is also a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the river, particularly around the Crowhurst Bridge area. We do not expect flooding of property at this stage. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 8pm today, Thursday 5th March or as the situation changes.
