Flood Alert issued

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Monday 27th January, 8.10pm

Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.

Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall today, Monday 27th January, and further heavy showers are forecast overnight tonight. We therefore believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the River Rother, particularly in the Crowhurst Bridge area. Rainfall is expected to ease tomorrow, Tuesday 28th January, however we expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying land, roads and footpaths near the river, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 10am, Tuesday 28th January, or as the situation changes.
